Abstract

The purpose of this text is to present the methodological and epistemological assumptions that should make it possible to choose the right tools to carry out an economic analysis of the markets associated with digital platforms. The analysis is intentionally limited to the mesoeconomic dimension. First, I will show why the concept of governance provides appropriate tools for studying these markets. Second, I will study in detail the mechanisms developed by Williamson and show to what extent they allow us to analyze these markets; I will also use the results formulated by Akerlof, Grossman and Stiglitz. In a third part, in the light of these methodological choices, I will carry out a more "concrete" analysis of these markets.
